Listening approach

Read the typescript and check out the tenses in context.
Past tense/present perfect/past perfect
Larry Mullen Jr. is talking about Elvis Presley:
I was worried that us going to Graceland would take away from him, and take away from us. When I got there, I enjoyed it. But seeing the graves and the eternal flame, it seemed very distant.
I wish he hadn’t been buried in the back garden… you know.
I really wish he´d been buried somewhere I couldn’t have gone. I’d have felt better.
I don’t know why, it’s just one of those things… you know.

Political speech
I’m not sure that… that song should be in the film- “Sunday Bloody Sunday”, because that day, the day of the Enniskellen bombing you know… will soon be forgotten, and the people won’t understand the way we felt on stage.

Well, here we are- the Irish in America. The Irish have been coming to America(USA) for years, come back to the great famine (when there is not enough food in a country) when the Irish were on the run from starvation(when people suffer from lack of food which can lead them to the death) and the British government that couldn’t careless.
Right up to today you know… there are more Irish immigrants here in America today than ever…some Illegal, some legal.
A lot of them are just running from high unemployment, some run from the troubles in Northern Ireland, from the hatred of the H-blocks (hunger strikers) and torture. Others from wild acts of terrorism like we had today in a town called Enniskellen where 11 people lie dead, many more injured, on a Sunday Bloody Sunday.

And let me tell you something:
I’ve had enough of Irish Americans who haven’t been back to their country in 20 or 30 years, come up to (someone walks over to you) me and talk about the Resistance, the revolution back home and the glory of the revolution and the glory of dying (preposition +verb with ing) for the revolution.-

F#%& the revolution!!!
They don’t talk about the glory of killing for the revolution… what’s the glory in taking a man from his bed and gunning him down ( to kill him with a gun) in front of his wife and his children?
Where’s the glory on that?
Where’s the glory in bombing a Remembrance Day Parade (a very important event) of old age pensioners (retired people), their medals taken out and polished up for the day. Where’s the glory on that? To leave them dying or crippled (handicap) for life or dead under the rubble of the revolution that the majority of the people in my country don’t want.
